I currently have a scar 17 with kdg rail, mototech adjustable gas plug, etc. that is topped with a vortex 1-10 to fill the battle rifle role, with a JP LRP-07 .308 topped with a mk5hd for a dmr-type role. Generally the higher end .308 ar's on the market are designed as a DMR or even precision rifle. If you want something to toss in the mud, then shoot lots of lead down range go with the scar.
