Imagine dripping melted wax onto a table, and then wiping the table with a wet towel. The dry part where the water didn't stick to the wax would be the fisheye. They aren't necessarily "eye" shaped, either. WebMar 29, 2010 · Let the paint dry as is for at least 24 hours. Sand the surface with #400 or finer grit sandpaper until the fish eye is gone and the primer coat appears. Clean the surface well with alcohol and begin the painting process again. Note: The best method to counter this is to pre-clean the surface well before you begin.

Go to your local Autobody store and ask for some mid temp paint prep surface cleaner and try that. Make sure you wipe it down several times and make sure you grab clean rags each time. My 77 Nova.
